First Choice Credit Union exists to help local people to save and provides affordable and responsible loans. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works within our common bond area. Our common bond is Rossendale, Hydnburn, Preston, Ribble Valley and the Parliamentary Constituency of Bury North.
To become a member you need to complete our Membership application form so we can open a Membership Share Account for you. There is a £5 joining fee and we will also ask you to pay a £5 administration fee each year to help cover the credit union’s costs. Once we have opened your Membership Share Account you must keep at least £5 in your account at all times.

Credit unions are financial co-operatives so once you are a member, you will have a say in how the credit union is run. This includes the right to vote at our Annual General Meeting and the opportunity to become a volunteer. As a not for profit organisation, any surplus that we make is returned to members in the form of a dividend.

It’s easy to join and take advantage of the benefits of membership – simply print the form, complete it and bring it with you to our office with your I.D. If you are unable to get to our office, please contact us as we may be able to make other arrangements.

Volunteer
As a not-for-profit organisation we rely on volunteers to make the credit union thrive. We have a wide range of roles and opportunities including marketing skills, media, graphic design, cashiers, office administration, credit control - just to name a few!
​
By volunteering not only are you supporting your credit union and your local community but it is also a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people and boost your CV.
